Ever heard of a whale in casino lore? The big players that every casino owner covets? They’re high rollers that will gamble insane amounts of cash on each bet they are the stuff legends are made of.

Now one of them is coming forward and attempting to recover almost 400 million in losses. His lawsuit centers on his argument that the casinos gave him “illegal” credit and as such, he’s not responsible to pay them back.

Fouad al-Zayat aka “Fat Man” says that back in March of 2006 he cancelled a check for 2 million at a casino and the casino gave him 12 months to pay it back. Since they allowed him credit during that period, he made the argument and won with the judge agreeing that it amounted to illegal credit.

Now he’s taking his case to other casinos where his debts total an astounding 400 million dollars. While his arguments against them are still a matter between his attorneys and the casino’s it’s not clear if he’s using the same tactic to get out of his obligations.
