A look back at Day 9 of the 2011 WSOP

After a slow -in WSOP terms anyway-day on Tuesday, the action heated up again on Wednesday with two bracelets being awarded and six tournaments in action.
Event 8: $1,000 No Limit Holdem, Day 4
Sean Getzwiller was able to outlast Sadan Turker in one of the longest heads-up battles in WSOP history -a 6-hour affair-when the two returned to the Rio on Wednesday along with Jon “PearlJammer” Turner after the tournament was a victim of the Hard-Stop Rule on Tuesday night -although no extra days were needed as the tournament was scheduled for five days (including two Day 1 flights).

Event #10: $1,500 No Limit Holdem 6-Max, Day 3
Geffrey Klein, a gynecologist and amateur poker player, managed to best a very tough field to win the $1,500 6-Max NLHE tournament at the 2011 WSOP. Klein overcame an enormous chip disadvantage during his heads up match against Eddie Blumenthal, who was appearing at his second final table of 2011.

Event #11: $10k Omaha 8 or better Championship, Day 3
The Omaha 8 Championship is the latest tournament to spill over into an extra day. Three players remain in contention for the title George Lind III - 2,860,000, Steve Billirakis - 2,465,000, and Viacheslav Zhukov - 740,000, battling for the following prizes:
- 1st place — $465,216
- 2nd place — $287,554
- 3rd place — $214,697

Event #13: $1,500 No Limit Holdem Shootout, Day 1
Of the 1,440 players who registered for the tournament, 160 players won their first round tables to advance to Day 2. Amongst the winners were Daniel Negreanu (making his first WSOP cash of 2011), Lex Veldhuis, Victor Ramdin, Jennifer Tilly, Frank Kasella, Eric Baldwin, Scott Seiver, Greg Raymer, ElkY, and Blair Hinkle.
Event #14: $3,000 Limit Holdem, Day 1
In one of the more disappointing tournaments of the 2011 WSOP up to this point, the $3k Limit Holdem tournament attracted only 337 entrants. At the end of the day only 180 players were left standing. Here is a look at the Top 10 chip counts heading into Day 2:
