Poker Stars is expanding their stable of celebrity spokespeople by signing actor and poker buff Jason Alexander.  He will be promoting the Poker Stars brand at both online and live poker events which will include the 2009 World Series of Poker and the Poker Stars global poker tour circuits.  “PokerStars has very graciously asked me to sign on as one of their official players. I am very flattered and happy to be playing for a real quality site and with the kind of professionals that remind me every day how truly mediocre I am at this game. But I’m learning. And now I can learn from some of the best.” Alexander said.

Alexander is joining an elite group of Poker Stars “international celebrity ambassadors” including NHL player Mats Sundin, former tennis pro Boris Becker and former Cy Young Award winner Orel Hershiser.  He will be playing online under the nickname “J. Alexander”.  He is a long time fan of poker and has played in a handful of major events including the 2008 NBC Heads Up Championship where he was already spotted wearing Poker Stars garb and was a regular on the old poker show Celebrity Poker Showdown.  Alexander is represented by Poker Royalty as is Hershiser.

He is best known for his role as George Costanza on the hit television show, Seinfeld.  In addition to his many TV roles, Alexander is also well known for his roles on the New York stage.  He is an accomplished singer and dancer and started his career as a magician but switched to an acting career when he began to struggle.
