Twenty-three year old Samuel Chartier was the last man standing in the recent concluded World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Event held at Caesars Atlantic City. This poker pro from Montreal outlasted John Nixon of Toronto.
David Zeitin, Chris Klodnicki, Jason Young, Matt Brady, Alex Bolotin, Michael Michnik and Frank Vizza were the other seven players ousted on board before the two Canadians rolled in a grand showdown, each receiving a cash prize of not more than $91,000.
Reports say that Chartier was in 2:1 chip lead during his one-on-one hand with Nixon. Nixon got A-10 while Chartier had A-J. The final flop (A-J-5) sealed a victory for Chartier with two pair.
“It’s amazing. I can’t describe the feeling I have right now. I knew the final table lineup was pretty tough, so I hoped to pick up a few good spots to put my money in and that’s what I managed to do,” he said in an interview.
Apart from the cash prize of $322,944, Chartier was also awarded with ten thousand dollars seat at 2009 WSOP Main Event.
