November was the kick off of Dream Team Poker from the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas and organizers wasted no time in announcing a second run of the unique tournament.  This time the event will be held on the Las Vegas Strip at Caesars Palace and will be held from March 27th to 29th.  Over 100 teams are expected to be in attendance totaling 300 players.  The tournament at the Hard Rock was a veritable who’s who of the poker world including former "Survivor: China" contestant Jean Robert Bellande, 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Jaimie Gold and Full Tilt Poker sensation Kenny Tran.  Some of Hollywood’s elite also made an appearance including "ER" and "8 Mile" actor Mekhi Phifer, Roger Cross of Fox’s "24", "The Hills" star Holly Montag, former NBA player Chris Mills and "The Simpsons" co-creator Sam Simon.

The Caesars Palace event prize pool is expected to be $150,000 with players paying $550 to play.  The Hard Rock event was invite only but the March tournament is going to be open to the public.  Director of Poker for Caesars Palace, Jim Pedulla said in a press release, “This new format will create more camaraderie among the players, making this an exciting event. Caesars Palace is proud to host this event in our World Series of Poker Tournament Room, which is also the site of the NBC ‘Heads-Up Championship’ and has been the location for a number of top celebrity and charitable tournaments.”

The tournament kicks off on Saturday March 28th a noon MST with the event wrapping up for the day once the field reaches 27 players.  The 1st day’s survivors then meet at noon on Sunday, March 29th to determine a winner.  Dream Team Poker is different than the traditional version of the game in that each team’s overall score is based on the finishing positions of each of its three members and only the top two finishes count.  Both individual and team prizes are up for grabs.
