Fabian Ortiz Wins LAPT Chile Event

When he set down his money to enter the $2,500 no limit hold’em main event at the Latin American Poker Tour in Vina del Mar, Chile, Fabian Ortiz likely had no notions that he would eventually make history at the event.  But, that’s exactly what he did on Thursday when he became the first Latin American to win a Latin American Poker Tour title.  He also took home $141,426 in prize money for beating out a field of 215 players. 
 
Ortiz set himself apart from a field where the majority of players were Latin American and proving that the local market if growing and the tour is improving during its second season.  He beat out many of his fellow local players as well as some of the biggest names in the business.  Ortiz managed to last longer than Team Poker Stars Pro members Humberto Brenes and Andre Akkari along with Brazilian stock car driver Gualter Salles.  Next up on the Latin American Poker Tour season two schedule is a stop in Punta del Este, Uruguay on March 18-20.
