And then there were six! The final table for the $25,000 buy-in 6-handed No Limit Holdem tournament at the 2010 World Series of Poker is set, and while the finalists may not be the biggest names in poker, they are highly recognizable to serious poker fans.

  • 1. Dan Kelly, 5.895 million chips - Kelly, known online as djk123, is one of the most successful online poker players of all-time, and is currently in a heated battle with some of his peers for a spot on the Brunson 10 -a group of young poker superstars sponsored by Doyles Room. Kelly is going to be hard to beat with his massive chip lead.
  • 2. Frank Kasella, 2.610 million chips - Kasella has already won two WSOP bracelets in 2010 -so far the only player to do so-and is looking for the trifecta, which would probably lock-up the Player of the Year award for the long-time poker pro.
  • 3. Shawn Buchanan, 2.110 million chips - Buchanan came into the tournament with an extremely impressive WSOP performance having cashed 7-times already! The prolific tournament player has won over $2.5 million in his short career.
  • 4. Jason Somerville, 1.665 million chips - Somerville is fresh off a 4th place finish in the 2010 WSOP Heads-Up Championship -which netted the poker pro $219k-and is looking to finally break through at the WSOP. In addition to his semi-final appearance this year, Somerville made two final tables at the 2009 WSOP.
  • 5. Mikael Thuritz, 1.535 million chips - Thuritz broke onto the poker scene in European poker tournaments back at the beginning of the poker explosion. In 2006 Mikael finished in 41st place in the WSOP Main Event which is still his biggest payday to date at $247,399. Overall Thuritz has won $1,381,063 according to the Hendon Mob database.
  • 6. Eugene Katchalov, 475k chips - Katchalov burst onto the scene with his massive $2.5 million win at the 2007 WPT Doyle Brunson Poker Championship, and seems to always be in the hunt at the big buy-in tournaments. With over $4.1 million in career winnings the one thing missing is a WSOP bracelet.

The winner of the tournament will walk away with a very nice payday of #1.3 million, and for some of these players huge sponsorship deals are on the line. As I mentioned Kelly is competing for a spot on the Brunson 10, Kasella is looking to win 3 WSOP bracelets in a single year -which would all but assure him of a huge deal, and Katchalov, Somerville, and Buchanan are inching closer and closer to theat upper tier of Poker Pros.
