FS+G Poker League announces eligibility criteria

After months of anticipation on how the Annie Duke and Jeffrey Pollack led Federated Sports + Gaming would choose the 200 or so players they would be inviting to participate in their new professionals-only poker league, and on Tuesday we finally received word on the specifics of the selection process; as well as a list of the 218 players that made the cut.

The tour will be doling out a variety of different “tour cards” based on a player’s recent and career accomplishments. Players can receive a 5-year, 3-year, and two separate 2-year cards, as well as a small group of players that will be given a lifetime exemption.

Here is a look at the criteria the league chose -which according to WickedChopsPoker.com was tweaked in order to make sure players like Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan and Patrik Antonius would be invited to participate, despite their focus on online poker over live poker tournaments.

5-Year Tour Card criteria:

  • At least $4.0 million in adjusted lifetime earnings, with the single largest win capped at $2.0 million
  • At least three major titles
  • At least nine cashes since January 1, 2008, for a total of at least $600,000 won

3-Year Tour Card criteria:

  • At least $2.5 million in adjusted lifetime earnings, with the single largest win capped at $1.5 million
  • At least one major title
  • At least nine cashes since January 1, 2008, for a total of at least $500,000 won

2-Year Tour Card (A) criteria:

  • At least $2 million in adjusted lifetime earnings, with the single largest win capped at $1 million
  • At least one major title
  • At least six cashes since January 1, 2008, for a total of at least $300,000 won

2-Year Tour Card (B) criteria:

  • At least $1.25 million in adjusted lifetime earnings, with the single largest win capped at $750,000
  • At least nine cashes since January 1, 2008, for a total of $600,000 won

There are a number of parameters each tournament must fall into in order to even be considered, as well as to be considered as a “Major” tournament win. For a complete list of the rules and stipulations regarding the selection process you can visit the Federated Sports + Gaming website.

The selection process has given the league a group of players that includes 27 players that were awarded with five-year cards, 55 players that were awarded with three-year cards, 36 players met the eligibility requirements for the two-year card (A),while 100 players made the cut on the two-year card (B) criteria.
