High Stakes Poker Season 5 set to film before Christmas

According to many, the television series “High Stakes Poker” (HSP) is more entertaining to watch than many of the big tournaments. Because it’s a cash game and invite only, the producers can insure that the lineup is entertaining and the action is constant. When compared to a typical big field tournament such as the World Series of Poker, where any “Joe Smith” can make the televised and/or final table, HSP always delivers the big names.

Set to air again on the Game Show Network (GSN), the next season is going to be filmed over three days at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. Players will wrap up their poker play just days before Christmas as the sessions are going to begin on December 19th and end on December 21st.

Details regarding which players will be on the roster for this season five aren’t available but will reportedly be released in about two weeks. Rumors are swirling that Internet player Tom “Durrrr” Dwan is going to be on the show, as well as the usual suspects including Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, and Phil Ivey.

According to their press release, Henry Orenstein, one of the Executive Producers of the show, had this to say: “High Stakes Poker, by a wide margin, has become a must-see on GSN for poker players and poker fans all over the world. We are happy to bring back the top amateurs and professionals risking hundreds of thousands of their money in the new season.”
