Reality television has long been a domain of the poker player. While poker players have not really dominated reality television, the fact of the matter is that many of them have been willing to appear on various reality television shows not only for self-promotion but also in order to promote the game of poker. Examples include the appearance of Jean-Robert Bellande on Survivor and Annie Duke on Celebrity Apprentice.
Now, the realm of poker is taking it to the next level by sending two of its biggest rising stars to the Amazing Race. Tiffany Michelle and Maria Ho will be the two poker players working together as a team on the Amazing Race. The two women have been celebrated recently for accomplishing big things in the world of poker and they will now be looked upon to become potentially the first team of two women to win the Amazing Race.
Tiffany Michelle has long been thought of as an excellent poker player, but recently she has raised a few eyebrows with some impressive finishes in tournaments. Most notably, Michelle was the last woman standing in the 2009 World Series of Poker. She eventually finished 17th in the event and netted over $300,000 for that particular feat.
Maria Ho has also made some heads turn in 2009 by her performance. Her biggest accomplishment this year was nearly making it to the final table in the limit Hold ‘Em event. She finished 11th in that tournament and won over $40,000 in prize money. She was also the last woman standing in the main event in 2008. She finished 38th and won a prize worth over $200,000 for her trouble.
Ho and Michelle are definitely a dynamic duo at the poker table, but it remains to be seen how they will represent the world of professional poker players when it comes to appearing on the Amazing Race. Neither of them are strangers to the camera due to their status as professional poker players, but winning one of these reality shows will require something more than comfort with the cameras that will be following their every move.
