Karl Krautschneider Wins ANZPT Debut Event

The debut stop for the Poker Stars Australia New Zealand Poker Tour crowned Melburnian Karl Krautschneider at the SKYCITY Casino in Adelaide, Australia February 7. In heads up action, he took down poker pro Tony “Bond18″ Dunst to take home $170,215 AUD in prize money. For his efforts, Dunst took home a healthy pay day as well, $111,520 AUD in prize money. The tournament was a success bringing in a field of 215 players that together created a prize pool worth $586,950.
When the heads up match action got under way, Krautschneider held 2,454,000 in chips compared to Dunst’s 1,824,000 chip stack. Dunst was chipping away at his opponent’s lead but Krautschneider ended up with a staight on the river against Dunst’s two pair, taking back the advantage. Once again Dunst held two pair on the final hand when he called all in on the turn. This time Krautschneider drew a flush to give him the win in the tournament. Krautschneider won his way into the tournament by way of a $33 Poker Stars qualifier and managed to turn it into a six figure payday in the end. A few of the notable players who also cashed in the tournament includes: Elliot Smith (11th), Tony Hachem (15th), Mel Judah (16th), James Obst (18th). The next event on the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour schedule is a stop in Sydney at the Star City casino where the buy in is $2,200 AUD and will take place April 30 - May 3.
