It’s hard to understand how one player can be the source of so much controversy, but accusations and allegations seem to follow Sorel Mizzi around like his own shadow. Mizzi’s online and live poker history have been plagued by cheating and ethical allegations, some of which Mizzi has admitted to -after he first denied them of course-albeit in a less than apologetic manner; usually his reasoning is that he cheated to right some wrong done to him.
Mizzi first came to the attention of poker players as a less than reputable when he took over a tournament on Chris Vaughn’s account after Vaughn had made a deep-run in the event at Full Tilt Poker -Mizzi is considered one of the best online poker tournament players so this was clearly unethical, and is expressly against the terms and conditions of all major online poker sites. For this Mizzi received a lifetime ban on Full Tilt Poker, and was later given a three-month ban on PokerStars for letting a player log into his account to start a tournament, and then taking over when his plane landed -or so his story went, since as you will see Sorel has a habit of changing his story when pressed.
Mizzi later admitted to playing on Full Tilt Poker while banned under a number of different aliases, and has been linked to multi-accounting on both PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker.
Mizzi later came under fire when a strange chat-log that was anonymously posted on the 2+2 poker forums came to light. After a disastrous first response where Mizzi basically said everyone believing the accusations were just jealous begrudgers, which was followed by another lengthy post where Sorel explained some of his past transgressions -basically blaming Full Tilt Poker for his multi-accounting-in a post titled ‘Coming clean and setting the record straight’.
Now we have news that Mizzi was cheating John Racener in a game of Chinese Poker at the PCA accordsing to a post by Shaun Deeb, and later confirmed by Racener himself in an interview with QuadJacks.com. Once again Mizzi’s reputation is not helpful in a game of “He-Said, She-Said”, and looking at Mizzi’s history he always uses the argument of how bad he was cheated live himself -which if his past reasoning can be used as an example, this would justify Sorel cheating others. And yet once again, in a lengthy response to the allegations in the thread Mizzi turns the whole thing around and talks about how much he has been victimized.
