Perusing the lineup for Party Poker’s Big Game IV poker fans will find some of the biggest names in all of poker, but even more interesting are the storylines that are forming around the game itself.
Isildur1
Most notably will be the appearance of the mysterious online poker player from Sweden, Isildur1. While rumors abound as to the true identity of the man who shook up the entire online poker world, his real name is one of the best kept secrets in poker. It will be interesting to see if Isildur1 reveals himself (I’d be surprised if Party Poker wasn’t trying to work out some kind of sponsorship deal to entice him to reveal himself during the Big Game IV) or if he takes Tony G up on his offer and wears a mask or disguise to remain anonymous.
Isildur1 will also insure that the game is very exciting, and will likely be pushing the action in a similar manner to his online exploits. Remember, this is the man responsible for the 10 biggest pots in online poker history!
***UPDATE: As of April 10th Tony G has announced on his blog that Isildur1 has backed out of the competition!
The StoxPoker Saga
All of the people following the current saga involving Nick “StoxTrader” Grudzien’s multi-accounting scandal-as well as collusion allegations-that forced him to resign from the site he founded, StoxPoker, will have one of the most important people in StoxPoker’s success, Dusty “Leatherass” Schmidt at the table. Schmidt left StoxPoker earlier this year and joined Drag the Bar -before the huge controversy occurred– and it will be interesting to see if he offers any insights into what went down, and who knew what.
Additionally, the man who first leveled the allegations at Grudzien, David “Viffer” Peat, will also be a contestant at Party Poker’s Big Game IV! Anyone familiar with Viffer from the 2+2 poker forums can be pretty certain that Peat won’t pull any punches, and if he and Dusty Schmidt are at the table at the same time I expect some serious questions coming out of Viffer!
Another player in the game was also very active in the 2+2 discussions involving StoxTrader, Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo -who is no stranger to controversy himself!
All-Star Lineup
The lineup for the Big Game IV is shaping up to be extremely strong. In addition to the players I’ve already mentioned, poker fans will be entertained by among others:
- Tony G
- Luke “Full Flush” Schwartz
- Phil Laak
- Jennifer Tilly
- Neil Channing
- Issac Haxton
- Andrew Feldman
- Robert Williamson III
- Roland de Wolfe
- Barney Boatman
As the event gets closer and closer, and with all the publicity now surrounding the Big Game IV, you can expect more big name players to take part in the action.
