Party Poker’s Premier League Brings out the Stars

Party Poker’s Premier League III has brought out the most notable line up of players in its history.  The line up includes such players as Devilfish, Phil Hellmuth, Tom ‘Durrr’ Dwan, JC Tran, Tony G, Nanad Medic, Vicky Coren, Roland DeWolf, Annette Obrestad, Juha Helppi, Andy Black and World Series of Poker Main Event winner, Peter Eastgate.

The series features a unique league format with 12 of the world’s greatest players.  All 12 players will play six times in the preliminaries.  The four players who come out on top will then progress to the final table where they will battle it out in heads up matches for the final two seats.

JC Tran won the first heat earning himself ten points when he beat World Series of Poker champ Peter Eastgate heads up.  The action between Tran and Eastgate had several swings but Tran eventually triumphed in the end.  David ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott, continuing his terrible luck in the Premier League, was first out again.  Annette Obrestad made it through the first heat, finishing third for four points.

In heat two, we saw the hugely anticipated match up between Phil Hellmuth and Tom ‘Durrr’ Dwan due to the well known history of animosity between the two players from the NBC Heads Up Championship.  The ‘Poker Brat’ suffered a defeat to Dwan, finishing in fourth.  Dwan then matched up with Tony G at the heads up stage but failed to hold his advantage when Tony G took down the match.

Party Poker Premier League III sees the buy in elevated to $75,000, the added money increased to $350,000 making the total prize pool a cool $1.25 million.  The results from the Party Poker Premier League III played Monday, November 24th are as follows:
