Almost 200 lives are lost during their duty and it was truly an honor to have the fourth and annual Hold’em for Heroes which earned over $500,000 for the TASER Foundation in 2008.

The rules were simple. Players are only allowed to give fifty dollars for the buy-in and add-ons during the three-day-tournament and the top three players of the day took home $10,000 and will join the 2009 World Series of Poker at Rio in Sin City. During the first and second day, $100 buy-ins was collected from the participants. The last day was the highest on board and earned $1,000 buy-in.

Lots of striking names attended the tournament, even the online poker spokesperson, Phil Hellmuth agreed to be the host of this charitable poker event. Mark Willis, the county music superstar, graced the event by performing his memorable hits such as “Wish You Were Here,” and “19 Something.”  The Blue Cross Blue Shield was the sponsor of the dinner.

“We’re not heroes. The men and women who we are here to support are the heroes,” Clonie Gowen, one of the Poker Pros in the event, said.

As expected, Hold’em for Heroes was a big success and all these were possible under the management of Kathy Hanrahan, the CEO of TASER Foundation.
