Two of the biggest tournament series of the year happen back-to-back in January, as players head to the warm climates of the Bahamas for the PokerStars PCA, and then move on to Melbourne, Australia for the popular and long-running Aussie Millions tournament series. This year the Aussie Millions will host 26 tournaments at the Crown Casino, including the Main Event, the $100k Super-High-Roller event, and the $250k Super-Duper-High-Roller tournament.
The Aussie Millions had humble origins, beginning its life as a Limit Holdem tournament back in 1998, well before the poker boom, and in its second year was played as a pot-limit Holdem tournament before morphing into a No Limit tournament and growing into one of the most prestigious tournaments in poker, and one of the biggest tournament series to boot.
This year marks the 16th consecutive year of the Aussie Millions, making it one of the longest-running tournaments in poker, along with the WSOP and the Irish Poker Open. The tournament series will run from January 17th (beginning just three days after the conclusion of the PokerStars PCA) and will wrap-up 17 days later on February 3rd.
