Tuesday at the WSOP: Monnette wins and two final tables set

One World Series of Poker bracelet was awarded on Tuesday and it turned out to be the first winner of the 2012 WSOP who was not a first-time WSOP champion. Tuesday also saw two tournaments play down to the final table, as well as the $10k Heads-Up NLHE event playing down to the round of 32.
John Monnette wins second WSOP bracelet
Longtime poker pro John Monnette picked up his second career bracelet on Tuesday after defeating a final table full of Stud Poker specialists, including bracelet winners Jeffrey Lisandro and Perry Friedman. Monnette’s heads-up opponent Huu Vinh was playing in his second Stud final table of the 2012 WSOP, having made the final table of the $1,500 Stud 8 event.

$1,500 NLHE reentry event reaches final table
The $1,500 NLHE reentry event reached the final table on Tuesday, with several big names still remaining in the event, including two two-time bracelet winners in Brian Rast and Greg Mueller, along with Amanda Musumeci, who is looking for her first big win after finishing 62nd in last year’s Main Event.

By the end of the day the field was down to just 32 players, all of whom are now guaranteed $10,966, with the next pay jump being to $20,674 for the winners of this round.
