It was a busy day at the Rio on Friday, with three WSOP bracelets handed out to surprise, surprise… first time winners! Not to mention that four other tournaments were in action, making Friday, June 24, 2011 one of the busiest days thus far the 2011 WSOP - so forgive me if some of these wrap-ups are on the short side, some as simple headlines!

Lakhitov wins Russia’s second bracelet at the 2011 WSOP after overcoming Thomas Middleton’s huge chip lead.

Mitch Schock wins first WSOP bracelet and vaults into the top 5 on the WSOP POY leader-board.

Event #41: $1,500 Limit H9oldem Shootout, Day 1
In the Limit Holdem Shootout -considered one of the softest events for Limit Holdem specialists-538 players played down to just 60 on Day 1, with notable limit Holdem players like Todd “Dan Druff” Witteles and Brock Parker joining Hoyt Corkins, Eugene Katchalov, JJ Liu, and Victor Ramdin as round 1 winners.
Event #42: $10,000 PLO Championship, Day 1
A solid turnout of 361 players created another prize-pool that will award over $800k to the winner -the fourth time at the 2011 WSOP thus far. At the end of the day 170 players remained in the hunt, but only 36 of those players will make the money.
