Bluff Magazine announces Readers Choice Awards winners

The 2010 Bluff Magazine Readers Choice Awards featured 14 categories, and the popular poker publication received some 9,500 votes when all was said and done. As in years past, the categories cover a wide variety of ground in the poker world form players, to personalities, to moments. Here is a look at the winners in the 14 different categories -for complete results and to see all if the nominated players you can visit www.bluffmagazine.com.

Favorite Poker Announcer

  • Winner: Joe Stapleton, The PokerStars.net Big Game

This is one award I definitely agree with; “Stapes” has a perfect blend of Norman Chad’s cynicism and wit as well as a solid understanding of poker strategy.

Favorite Poker Hostess

  • Winner: Amanda Leatherman, The PokerStars.net Big Game

Not too much to say on this award, as I think all of the hostesses do a good job of interviewing the players and filling the dead-air that is abundant in a poker telecast.

Favorite Poker TV Show

  • Winner: High Stakes Poker, GSN

Almost a clean sweep for The PokerStars.net Big Game, but the longstanding High Stakes Poker managed to beat out the new kid on the block.

Favorite Web-based Poker Show

  • Winner: The Poker Beat, PokerRoad.com

Another choice that is hard to argue.

Favorite Poker Blog

  • Winner: WickedChopsPoker.com

I think the most shocking thing about WickedChop’s win was the amount they won by!

Favorite Poker Forum

  • Winner: TwoPlusTwo.com

This one is a no-brainer, and even Bluff’s forums couldn’t pull off an upset, finishing in a distant second place.

Funniest Poker Twitter

  • Winner: Doyle Brunson, @TexDolly

The fact that the 70-something Brunson is even on Twitter makes him an easy choice in this category; the fact that his Tweets are pretty good is just icing on the cake.

Favorite Online Poker Site

No surprise here.

Favorite Online Poker Resource

  • Winner: PokerTableRatings.com

This was an interesting category with a number of good choices.

Favorite Las Vegas Poker Room

  • Winner: Bellagio

Can you say name recognition?

Favorite East Coast Poker Room

  • Winner: The Borgata

It’s hard to put any Poker Room ahead of the WPT Poker Room at Foxwoods, but the Borgata in AC won the vote.

Favorite California Poker Room

  • Winner: The Commerce

Considering it’s the biggest card-room in the world, you can’t argue against the Commerce Casino’s win.

Breakout Performance of the Year

  • Winner: Daniel “Jungleman12″ Cates

$5.5 million in online poker winnings during 2010, and leading Tom Dwan by nearly $900k in the durrrr Challenge, makes Cates the hands-down winner in my book.

Favorite Moment of 2010

The best poker player in the world has to win at least one award right?

Glad Doyle got the nod here for best poker twitter account. The guy still has it at 77.
