In an interesting twist on the typical search for a new sponsor, Dennis Phillips is looking to Ebay. As the chip leader of the November Nine, he’s looking to bring an additional sponsor aboard. This new sponsor will have their logo plastered on the shoulder of his Poker Stars .net jersey and is sure to get plenty of television time since the event will be re-ran on ESPN for years to come.Poker Dennis Phillips

In an admirable gesture of generosity he’s also donating 100% of the proceeds from the auction to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The organization works hard to find ways to better treat those with the disease and ultimately find a cure. His motivation? His brother was diagnosed with MS over ten years ago so Dennis had personal insight to the challenges that someone afflicted with MS faces.

It’s refreshing to see someone leverage their poker career to bring more awareness not only to corporate sponsorships for poker players but raise awareness and money for a good cause. To date, Dennis is the only player that’s publicly stated his intentions to donate any proceeds to charity. In addition to this offering, he’s pledged to donate 1% of his tournament winnings to “Put a bad beat on Cancer”. Certainly gives one a reason to root for Dennis when the final table is broadcast on ESPN this November.
