GoDaddy Will Sponsor National Heads Up Poker Championship

GoDaddy.com, best known for its Super Bowl advertising, will be bringing its brand name to the felt of NBC’s National Heads Up Poker Championship as its presenting sponsor. The tournament now in its fifth season, will run from March 6th through March 8th at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The tourney is similar in style to the NCAA Basketball Tournament with a 64 player field that will be competing for the $1.5 million that is up for grabs.
GoDaddy CEO and Founder, Bob Parsons commented in a press release that was sent out by NBC on Tuesday, “The popularity of poker has grown thanks in large part to television and the internet. Being an industry leader for domain names and websites, we only sponsor the most exciting events. NBC and Caesars Palace are assembling a top-notch tournament with world-class players and I look forward to seeing some great action.”
Many well known Poker Pros are expected to attend the tournament including Full Tilt Poker pro Chris Ferguson, 2008 World Series of Poker Champion, Peter Eastgate and Doyle Brunson, the legendary World Series of Poker champ several times over. Leeann Tweeden who is the host for NBC’s Poker After Dark, will also serve as the sideline reporter for the National Heads Up Poker Championship. Craig Hummer and Ali Nejad will be contribute commentary. The show is scheduled to be broadcast in April and May on six consecutive Sundays though exact dates have not been yet announced. The pairings will be announced at a Draw Party at PURE Nightclub on March 5th. The champion must claim two out of three matches, the competition is open to the general public.
