Wild Day 6 at the WSOP Main Event comes to an end with 57 remaining

After six very long days of play at the Rio, the remaining players in the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event are guaranteed a minimum payday of $130,997, but after outlasting nearly 6,800 other players I’m sure every remaining player has their eyes firmly affixed to the $8.7 million prize that will go to the winner of the tournament.

Day 6 started off as the USCPhildo show, as Phil “USCPhildo” Collins owned his table over the first few levels, building up a stack of over 10 million chips before coming back down to earth and ending with 7.2 million. From there Ben Lamb took over the “run-good” spot and also flirted with 10 million chips and the chip-lead, and eventually ended the day in second place with 9.9 million chips.

Lamb would have been the chip-leader if it hadn’t been for a huge late hand by Ryan Lenaghan which saw the WSOP Circuit Series regular vault into the chip-lead with over 12 million chips.

Here is a look at the rest of the Top 10 chip counts heading into Day 7:

1.       Ryan Lenaghan - 12,865,000

2.       Ben Lamb - 9,980,000

3.       Matt Giannetti - 7,940,000

4.       Andrey Pateychuk - 7,255,000

5.       Phil Collins - 7,240,000

6.       Hilton Ladorba - 7,160,000

7.       Nelson Robinson 6,420,000

8.       Tri Huynh - 6,295,000

9.       Aleksandr Mozhnyakov - 6,070,000

10.   Bryan Devonshire - 5,970,000

There are still plenty of big names remaining in the field, and in addition to Ben Lamb, Phil Collins, Tri Huynh, and Bryan Devonshire, all of whom are in the Top 10, you’ll also find names like Erick Lindgren,  JP Kelly, Per Linde, Tom Koral, Lars Bonding, Sam Barnhart, David “Doc” Sands AND his girlfriend Ericka Moutinho (the last woman standing), Andrew “Foucault” Brokos, Tony Hachem, David Bach, Steve Brecher, Mario “Pwnasaurus” Silvestri, Frank Sinopoli, Minh Nguyen, and Sebastian Ruthenberg.

Falling by the wayside on Day 6 were such notable names as Jean-Robert Bellande (65th place), Peter Gelencser (67th place), Allen Cunningham (69th place), Christian “CHarder30″ Harder (92nd place), Sorel Mizzi (95th place), Aaron “AEJones” Jones (103rd place), Vladimir Geshkenbein (106th place), Eli Elezra (107th place), Sami “LarsLuzak” Kelopuro (111th place), Joseph Cheong (114th place), Peter “Nordberg” Feldman (124th place), and Rupert Elder (132nd place).

Day 7 of the 2011 WSOP Main Event is expected to play down to three tables (27 total players), followed by Day 8 where the final table is expected to be sorted out, at which point the WSOP will go on its 4-month break before the November Nine reconvene to play for poker’s biggest prize.
