If there is one thing poker players love to do it’s make bets (on virtually anything). And for all of the poker players that were unable to make the final table of the 2012 World Series of poker Main Event (so basically all of us) the next best thing to being there is having the chance to bet on the outcome!

This year players have been able to place prop bets right in Las Vegas on World Series of poker events, but the real action for poker prop bets has remained online, and the 2012 WSOP Main Event final table is no different.

Last year a relative long-shot went on to win the WSOP Main Event, Pius Heinz of Germany, where in previous years it’s generally been the safe picks that have triumphed at the final table –dating back to the long-shot of all long-shots Jerry Yang in 2007.

Like all prop bets, when it comes to the 2012 WSOP Main Event the best advice is to shop around for the best lines, and even online there is quite a discrepancy on the odds of some of the players. While many of the players are relatively close, suppose you wanted to make a major on cash-game grinder, and short-stack, Jeremy Ausmus: At Bovada (Bodog) you’d get 11-to-1 odd, while at Ladbrokes you’d get the much better line of 16-to-1 on Ausumus to win the bracelet.

Here is a look at the betting lines from the two sites, which will give you some indication of where you might want to place a bet, depending on who you like to win the Main Event (here’s a tip, if you like any player other than Steven Gee or Michael Esposito head on over to Ladbrokes).

Ladbrokes:

  • Jesse Sylvia – 3/1
  • Andras Koroknai – 5/1
  • Greg Merson – 5/1
  • Russell Thomas – 6/1
  • Steven Gee – 8/1
  • Michael Esposito – 8/1
  • Robert Salaburu – 9/1
  • Jacob Balsiger – 12/1
  • Jeremy Ausmus – 16/1

Bovada:

  • Jesse Sylvia – 3/1
  • Andras Koroknai – 9/2
  • Greg Merson – 5/1
  • Russell Thomas – 6/1
  • Steven Gee – 9/1
  • Michael Esposito – 9/1
  • Robert Salaburu – 10/1
  • Jacob Balsiger – 10/1
  • Jeremy Ausmus – 11/1

In addition to these two sports-books there are plenty of other places to book a bet online, as well as places in Las Vegas, where the lines might be even better –although it’s likely the amount you an wager, the cap put in place on these prop bets, may be mush smaller.
