The fifth season of High Stakes Poker debuts Sunday night on the Game Show Network at 9 pm ET. This season will feature some of the most well known professional players out there including Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius to name a few. Hundreds of thousands of dollars will be on the line and the wait to see it all is finally over.
The poker show features the world’s greatest players putting up at least $200,000 in what is now the richest regular cash game on TV. Mori Eskandani, executive producer of High Stakes Poker said, “This is the real thing. This is what poker is all about.” High Stakes Poker has become a staple of the Game Show Network’s lineup since the first season aired back in January 2006. “For me, this program is a signature of the network,” said Mike Bevan, vice president of original programming at GSN.
The fifth season requires all players to put up a minimum of $200,000 of their own money to play in the game. It’s the highest minimum requirement the show has ever had. Last season only one of the cash games at the end of the season featured a $500,000 minimum and players can set higher limits themselves this season if they want to.
There will be plenty of action to go around as the world’s greatest players try to out play each other for the high stakes. Along with the professionals already named will be the World Series of Poker main event champion, Peter Eastgate, Dario Minieri, Phil Laak, Eli Elezra, Joe Hachem, Antonio Edfandiari, Barry Greenstein and David Beyamine.
