The Sexy Goddesses of Poker

Nowadays, poker is extremely lively and entertaining. You see just about all types of people trying their hand on this card game, including women who show both beauty and brains on the casino floor. Ah yes, watching poker has just gotten better!

Following is a quick rundown of some of the women we love to WATCH on the poker table. And we’re not talking about just their game play.

Vanessa Rousso a.k.a. LadyMaverick

Vanessa Ashley Rousso is beauty and brains personified. She’s currently studying law at the University of Miami and just happens to be a professional poker player who’s earned $1,243,765 to date… and counting!

Vanessa claims to know how to play poker since the tender age of five. No surprise then that during her first year of seriously playing poker, she managed to win multiple cashes in major tournaments, including 7^th place at the 2006 World Poker Tour championship, and 8^th place in the 2006 World Series of Poker $5000 no limit hold ’em shorthanded session.

Fast-forward to today, 2009, Vanessa managed to make it to the finals of the National Heads-Up Championship but lost to Huck Seed in the end. Still, it can be called a victory in itself as she managed to crush poker icons such as Doyle Brunson, Paul Wasicka, and others, in the process.

So what about the ‘sexy goddess’ part? That’s all going strong too! Vanessa just posed for Sports Illustrated for its February 2009 edition. She’s also just been signed up by GoDaddy to promote its business alongside sexy car racer Danica Patrick.

Liz Lieu a.k.a. Poker Diva

Don’t let that sexy Asian smile fool you because Liz Lieu is one deadly poker player! Although raised in the US, Liz was born to a Chinese father and Vietnamese mother. At the age of 13, Liz was introduced to Chinese poker where she realized soon enough that she had real knack for the game.

A few years later, her father’s sickness made Liz want to play poker professionally to support the family. And that she did BIG time.

Liz focused on L.A. and Vegas cash games and when she realized that Vegas is where most of the action is, she relocated there and became a frequent player in the $80/$160 Limit Hold’Em cash games. In 2005, she participated in the 36^th Annual World Series of Poker $1,500 NLHE event, ended up 5^th, and pocketed a whopping $168,590. Not bad for her first tournament!

Apart from being a sight to behold on the poker scene, Liz is a big giver too, donating around 20% of her tournament earnings to charity.

Jennifer Tilly a.k.a. The Unabombshell

A lot of people recognize Jennifer Tilly before they realize she’s a darn good poker player. Jennifer is a poplar actress, taking part in various popular TV programs and films. In 1994, she was even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as an awful actress in Bullets Over Broadway, a Woody Allen film.

Jennifer is equally impressive on the poker tables! In June 2005, she won a World Series of Poker bracelet in the Ladies’ No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em event. She survived 600 other participants and pocketed $158,625. In September of the same year, she won 3^rd place in the World Poker Tour Ladies Invitational Tournament.

Jennifer is also known to coach or unofficially mentor a lot of fellow actress poker players like Jennifer Leigh and Shannon Elizabeth. However, it seems that this sexy goddess of poker will be lying low for a while. In December 2008, Jennifer said that she won’t pursue poker as a career anymore. She’ll still play though but only do so as a hobby.

There are just so many woman that are now involved with poker , so you can guarantee the sexy goddesses of poker will just keep getting hotter and hotter.
