4 Things that will Stop Tilt

Article By: RuffPoker.com

Going on tilt is by far the worst thing you could ever do at a poker table. If you want to really become a great poker player you must learn to avoid going on tilt. Naturally there are some people that go on tilt a lot more then others. Some people are just blessed with the ability to avoid going on tilt while others must make a choice. Either they can accept the fact that they are going to go on tilt; or they can do something about it. Believe it or not there are some tips to never going on tilt again

Get Disciplined

You have to be able to stay disciplined. If you can do that, then you are going to be able to stay away from tilt. If you cannot stay disciplined then you need to take up a new game and take a good look in the mirror. It is by no means easy to be discipline but it is very necessary for every aspect of poker. Get this down and you are on your way to never going on tilt again.

Be Patient

Okay, we have all gone through this before. When you get a bad beat or something screwed up happens; it can be easy to feel like you need to make a move. You might feel like you have to get that money back right away or maybe you just need to do something because you are so mad you cannot figure out what else to do. Just be patient; your time will come when it is meant to be. You cannot force anything in poker.

Be Confident

Confidence is one of the best attributes of a good poker player. It will help you feel better while you are playing and give you what you need to make good moves. You have to be confident in your playing style and believe that you can outplay anyone. Without that, you might as well just be playing blackjack.

If you do not believe it is your skill level that is winning you money you are on your way to nowhere in the poker world. This is especially important when it comes to not going on tilt. When you get a bad beat; be confident relax and move on. You know that you are good, and you know that you are better then the guy who just gave you a bad beat. Therefore; you will get that money back and all of the rest that is in front of him. Just give it time and forget.

Learn how to be Smart

Smart people are good at poker; that is just the way it is. Some of the best poker players in the world graduated from Harvard or dropped out with a 4.0 to play poker professionally. Being smart is going to help you keep a straight mind and be able to forget the things that you need to forget. At the same time you will remember the things that will help your game. Smart poker players know that bad things are going to happen. It is just part of the game. The smart level-headed player will find a way to get through without going into full tilt.

Going on tilt is going to screw you up a lot more times then it is going to help you. If you really have to leave the table to avoid tilt, you have some major improvements to work on in that category. The goal is that you will just not go on tilt. You don’t want to have to leave a game in order to avoid tilt.
